ABOUT MITCHELL D. MAUGHAN
Mr. Maughan was born and raised in Monticello in Southeastern Utah where he learned an appreciation for the outdoors. He visits his hometown often where you will find him preparing for a backpacking trip, four-wheeling, fishing, waterskiing or just enjoying the scenery.
Mr. Maughan graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelors degree in mathematics and a minor in statistics. He attended Texas Tech School of Law in Lubbock, Texas where he graduated with a juris doctorate. In law school, Mr. Maughan excelled at moot court, demonstrating a penchant for verbal and written skills. He received the Am Jur award given to a student for acheiving the highest grade in law school. Mr. Maughan was elected by his peers as President of the Texas Tech moot court program.
After law school, Mr. Maughan moved back to Utah where he began a general law practice focused primarily on real estate law. He created Wasatch Land & Title Insurance Agency, Inc., a title and escrow company. He managed the day to day affairs of the company while simultaneously practicing law. He later sold the title and escrow company giving him more time to practice law.
Mr. Maughan formerly acted as outside counsel for Santaquin City, where he prosecuted misdemeanors and advised and consulted the City on land use laws, zoning, use and density requirements, subdivison ordinances and approval, government finance, labor law, and other matters.
Mr. Maughan has over ten years experience as a practicing attorney. He enjoys real estate related issues. He also practices business law, and estate and probate administration. He is involved in transactional work and litigation.
